Dear Baby
What an amazing day today has been!! I feel like the luckiest person alive!
The day started off a bit shaky because I didn’t sleep all that well. I had cramps through the night and was very uncomfortable as a result.
We had some breakfast and then started our journey to Cape Point. It was quite a nice drive, having sea views just about all of the way because we drove on the coastal roads. We arrived at Cape Point and I went and bought a ticket for the Funicular because I decided that I did not have the energy to walk all the way up to the top. Your daddy, of course, decided he was walking. He set off on his journey and I caught a ride up. Obviously I got there first but I didn’t wait for more than a couple of minutes before your daddy arrived. The Funicular was actually a waste of money because the biggest part of the walking starts where the walking ends! So we began climbing the hundreds of stairs to get to the light house. Once we got up there the view was spectacular!!!!!! It was quite windy but wow!!!!! We stayed by the lighthouse for about 5 minutes or so and then your daddy decided that he wants to walk down a path that actually leads to the point itself. From where I was standing this path looked quite dodgy and it looked like quite a walk. But your daddy asked me so nicely to walk with him that I couldn’t exactly say no. Just as we left the lighthouse, your daddy put his hand on a rock as he was stepping down a step. He pulled his hand away and then said “I shouldn’t have put my hand there” and started taking pictures. Being nosey like I am, I decided to take a look at what he was talking about and there in the rock was a snake!!!!!! I nearly died!!!!!!!!!! I started freaking out and told your daddy that we are going “right now”. He said we must just walk down that other path and then we can go. By now I was in a state and panicking about every little thing he stopped to look at. Stomping my feet, I followed him down this little path. We had been walking for a few minutes and I looked back to see that behind me was this big hill! I did not realise we had walked downhill so much and was starting to worry about making it all the way back up the hill when we weren’t even a quarter of the way to the end! I told your daddy that I’m not walking any further; I was going to go back and wait for him. It was at that point he took his hand out of his camera bag (I assumed he was getting a different lens out) and he had a ring box in his hand! I never in a million years saw what was actually coming my way! I was so hoping that it was what I thought it was going to be. He then asked me if I’d marry him and of course I said yes!!!!!!!!!!!! The ring is very beautiful and I’m completely in love with it!
It was such a beautiful moment!!!!!!!!!!!! Your daddy didn’t even notice that I was crying (thank goodness!!!).
After that we went back up the hill, down to the bottom of the lighthouse and had some lunch.
We then went on a mission to see some shipwrecks around the rest of the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Needless to say, there were no wrecks to be seen.
On our way back “home” we stopped off at the Boulders Penguin Colony. That was really amazing to see so many penguins!!! They are really very cute and fascinating. We spent a few hours just watching 4 penguins waddling around.
We had supper at the Brass Bell in Kalk Bay. It was very nice as well even though the restaurant itself looks very dodgy from the street.
I think that all this fresh air is doing me the world of good. It makes me feel very tired but I don’t feel so nauseous all the time, which is great!
