Dear Courtney
What a day!!! I’m feeling so many emotions right now that I actually don’t know how I’m feeling.
At 1am I thought my waters had broken for sure because I woke up feeling like I had pee'd in my pants. I had no contractions or anything so decided to go back to bed.
I started getting worried because everyone says if your waters break you must go to the hospital immediately. So at 5am I woke your daddy up and we went to the hospital. They put me on the machine and said that I was having contractions - which I couldn't feel but that I was still in the latent phase of labour. My cervix was still hard and not yet open. So they sent me home, saying that they’d most likely see me in the evening again.
I had a scheduled doctors appointment this afternoon anyway, so I decided to go see the gynae. At that stage I still was not having any contractions. I only had bad period pains and a sore back. They put me on the machine again and saw that the contractions were now stronger than in the morning - although I still wasn't able to feel the contractions they told me I'm having. The gynae did an internal and said that my cervix had moved to the front and had softened but had not yet opened.
He said this phase can last up to 3 days, to just go home and take things as they come, he said that he’d most likely see me again before the morning came.
Dr S said that if nothing has happened by Friday morning then I must give him a call and he will "help me along". He did, however say that he didn’t think I’d make it through the night. I am not at all keen on being induced until you are way over-due
This evening I started getting cramps again and thought maybe finally things were happening, but I was obviously wrong.
I feel very frustrated, I don’t know what I am supposed to be feeling because obviously what I did feel were not contractions anyway.
It’s all very exciting, but at the same time frustrating because I’m not very good at being patient.
Anyway, let’s see what the night holds in store for us.
