This is it!

Yay!!! I think this is finally it! We’ll get to meet you today!!!!!!!

At about 1am I woke up feeling like I had wet myself. It was then that I realised that my waters had finally broken good and proper. I was not yet feeling any contractions so I climbed back into bed and thought I'd wait an hour or so and see how it goes before I wake your daddy up. Sure enough, the contractions started shortly thereafter.

They started at 12 minutes apart and within an hour they were 4 minutes apart. So at 2:30am we started getting ready for the hospital and we arrived there just after 3am. As always, they did an internal and told me that I was 1cm dilated and they put me on the monitor. The contractions were perfectly manageable, but my back was really sore so lying still on the monitor was making me very uncomfortable.

When we arrived at the hospital I found out that Dr S was on leave for the week - and he never even told me! So another gynae will be attending to me. This has upset me terribly and l am feeling very anxious. I now have a feeling that the day is not going to go according to plan. Hopefully I’m very wrong about that!

At 6am I had not had any progress so they phoned the gynae and he came to see me, he arrived at 7am. He gave me a drip with a small dose of the stuff they use for inductions - this was to hopefully get things moving along. I didn’t really want it – but I’d already been waiting for 5 days so I let the gynae talk me into it.

So now the contractions are starting, they are still manageable at this stage, but yoh, they are coming fast!!!
I can’t believe that I am not dilating at all!!!! This is so frustrating!
